API for dedicated chat application.

Question

Can you suggest the API to be used inorder to develop a dedicated chat application?We are planning to develop one chat application which has all the features of popular chat applications like enabling users to send audio, video, text messages, share user's current location etc. I have just gone through the site appwarp, and am not sure whether I looking at the right product.
