User createdOn returns 1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM

When I get my user after running userService.GetUser, the resulting user has a createdOn value of "1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM". But when I look up the user list on the dashboard, the "Created On" colum  shows a diffent date, the actual date when the user was created.

Are this two values different? Shold I manually set the creted on value on the user and then update? or what might be happening?
